The Associated Press is reporting that ... more than 54,000 Mexicans have signed a petition calling on the United States to take further steps to combat weapons trafficking.
Mexico says the majority of guns used by the country's violent drug cartels are smuggled over the border from the United States.
Activist Javier Sicilia said "The United States is partly responsible for our humanitarian tragedy."
In response, we issue the following:
The majority of illegal aliens and drugs are smuggled over the border from Mexico. The Mexican government is partly responsible for this tragedy.
We hereby ask the Obama administration to order the Mexican government to take further steps to combat human trafficking and drug trafficking, and to clean up their own mess before worrying about ours.
