The fluoridation of water began in the 1940's stating that it would greatly benefit the dental health of the American people. Unfortunately, that is far from the case. Fluoridation has shown to decrease tooth decay to a certain extent but, it's negative consequences outweigh the one benefit to fluoridated water. Fluoride has been linked to obesity (from slowing down the thyroid), Alzheimer's and dementia, decreased hormone activity (increasing the risk of insomnia due to the reduction of melatonin produced), bone, bladder and lung cancers as well as a long list of other health problems. Fluoride is only good in small doses such as what they give you at the dentist or what you can receive from your toothpaste. Visit http://www.fluoridealert.org for more information.
