Fracking, or hydraulic fracturing, is a method of drawing natural gas from shale that is growing in popularity. It requires MILLIONS of gallons of water and uses hundreds of chemicals. There are no regulations on fracking, so corporations aren't obligated to release the names of the chemicals in use or obtain permits. But that's not the worst-- since there's no 'clean-up' after a corporation is done fracking an area, toxic chemicals seep into nearby groundwater and find their way into lakes, rivers, wells, and drinking water. Water is a NON-RENEWABLE RESOURCE NECESSARY TO SUSTAIN HUMAN LIFE. Fracking will soon be implemented in the Great Lakes region, the USA's top source of drinking water. Fracking NEEDS to be banned for the preservation of our future. This matters.
