Stop funding cuts to the highly proven Trio programs

Created by N.M. on December 16, 2011

For those who aren't aware of what Trio programs are, they are college preparatory programs (i.e Upward Bound and Regional Centers for Math and Science). They provide tremendous opportunites for low income students of our nation to be able to successfully attend college. The funding cuts of the past are now turning into potential threats of a shutdown of Trio and all that it has to offer. The U.S. has some big problems right now (i.e. national debt). Many of the problems of today will also have to be born by the future of our nation, our youth. It will take smart and talented people to create good solutions, so what sense does it make to cut programs that encourage and foster intellect and higher education? We need smart people to lead our nation in the future. Trio trains those people.
