Stop gaudy spending on White House dinners and events

Created by J.L. on February 23, 2015

As a citizen that struggles to get by, I find it offensive to see our government spending thousands of dollars on fancy silverware, plates, chandeliers, and gourmet meals for politicians and lobbyists at White House events.

I urge Americans to petition the government to stop this offensive gaudy spending. Use wooden tables. Cheap silverware. No celebrity chefs.

Wouldn't that look nice? Like a government that actually represents the interests of people who can't afford thousand-dollar velvet carpets, prestigious artwork, etc.

Please ask the White House to show some respect to the millions of Americans living in poverty. Poor citizens should not have to turn on the television and see our politicians in gorgeous ballroom events. It is an insult to taxpayers living in poverty. Thank you.
