Stop giving billions of taxpayer money away before we've resolved the financial troubles facing the nation, including budget shortfalls (aka deficits) and ballooning national debt.
The US faces enormous budget shortfalls, and will continue to do so for decades unless serious reform is enacted. This has proven extremely difficult (both financially and politically). Furthermore we have record indebtedness, creating an unsustainable burden for future generations. Despite these two facts, we continue to distribute vast sums of money to foreign nations without any obvious national benefit. We should not be against charitable giving, but it should be reserved for times when our own fiscal house is (at minimum) on the road to recovery.
