How can this be justified in a time of severe drought? Subsidies for this industry and bail outs are completely irresponsible. Even if consumers were to pay the true monetary cost of these products, it would not reflect to them the true cost to our environment, to animals who are being severely abused, to humans, and to future generations.
So during this drought it's more clear than ever that we need to cut this industry. A tax on animal products along with NO MORE bail outs or subsidies for this extremely wasteful industry would be a great start.
