Children and teens in America are already pressured by sports teams, the classroom, the hallways, and on top of that they have to go home and do homework. Some say it is to see whether or not the student understands the lessons learned in class, however in most cases students are given a book or handout with most of the answers on it anyway. Another reason given is as study material, well a student can always study a book or handout, Then how will we know if they studied? a teacher might ask, well most of the time students study for a test, so the grade of the test will generally represent their time spent studying. Students spend up to seven and a half hours in school not including sports. So why give them the extra pressure of homework? Why send students home to do more? Wheres the fun?
