To Stop Giving CIA Intelligence Briefings to Presidential Candidates Before the National General Election is Held

It has long been a tradition to provide Top Secret intelligencce briefings to candidates of major parties, but it is not law. The briefings were established over 60 years ago by President Harry S. Truman when he suddenly had to assume office after the death of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and not having been informed about the Manhattan Project and the atomic bomb. Since then there have been several candidates briefed prior to the general election. These briefings contain information about the United States' current covert actions worldwide though not in detail. However, in light of the recent questions concerning the fitness of a candidate to hold the office of President, these briefings should be discontinued and given only to the President-elect after the general election.
