We, the citizens of the United States of America, call on members of Congress to stand up against the gun lobby and the National Rifle Association, and implement immediate and powerful controls on guns in this country.
The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution protects our right to keep and bear arms; it does not, however, provide unlimited access to guns for all people.
The violence in our country is out of control. Children are being shot in schools. People are being shot in churches, movie theaters and in the workplace. It's happening live on television, and this insanity has to end.
Guns are too easy to obtain in the U.S. Loopholes in the law allow mentally unstable people to buy weapons at gun shows without sufficient background checks.
