Stop honoring Columbus

Created by K.E. on July 21, 2014

Christopher Columbus is not the father of America, but the father of the transatlantic slave trade. He slaughtered between 3-5 million natives, stole gold, raped the Lucayan women, and began the TRANSATLANTIC SLAVE TRADE. This man is honored at the same level as Abraham Lincoln and George Washington.
This must be changed. I propose changing the name of this holiday to one of the following, but others may be suggested.
Founder's Day
(To honor the Founding Fathers of the country, as well as the women who participated in the boycotts)
John Adams Day
(Born on October 30, 1735)
John Hancock Day
(Signer of the Declaration of Independence, and died October 8, 1793)
Natives Day
(Honor Native Americans)
Yorktown Day
(October 19,1781, most important battle of Revolutionary War)
