LGBT individuals in Uganda live in constant fear for their lives. Their jobs, place to live and connections with families are always at risk because of their sexual orientation. Ugandan Government is striving to pass laws to make life for LGBT individuals incrementally difficult! Religious organizations add fuel to the fire. Non-profit organizations such as ACORD whose job is to fight HIV/AIDS and distribute condoms refuse to support LGBT Ugandans. LGBT focused non-profit such as GEHO from Jinja, Uganda face a losing battle in a resource limited and politically hostile environment. This should not be an acceptable situation for us. I therefore urge all the citizens, govt. and the President of USA to intervene on behalf of the LGBT Ugandans and help them gain their fundamental rights.
