In Eureka, California, a group of protesters was lawfully assembled, protesting on an overpass. They were both verbally and physically abused, and then arrested by police. Mr. President, I was under the assumption you studied constitutional law. Well, here is one part you may have skipped over.
First Amendment:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
