Why should peoples' electricity that they pay for be shut off without their knowledge or consent even if they are in good standing?
Smart Grid is an automated program that uses a centralized computer "hub" to gather customer usage data and through that information dictate how much power a "user" is allowed to consume. If the computer senses a power overload in one area of the grid, it can either 1: Regulate appliances i.e. air conditioner, washer/dryer, television, to reduce the grid's load; or 2: Turn off power to the user's house or community completely. All this being done without customer knowledge or consent.
