Americans right to keep and bear arms was meant to protect American citizens from a tyrannical government as much as any other threat. Gun crime is a social issue, as evidenced by looking at Switzerland. Attempting to eliminate our ability to access whatever firearms we choose is an infringement on our rights and should not be tolerated. The weapons soldiers use have a place in the homes of law abiding citizens as defenders of liberty and justice. This is a fundamental concept of American government as a part of the checks and balances system adopted by our founders and guaranteed in our Constitution.
