My son died at the age of 23 on 6-13-16. He had epilepsy. He had been on at least 6 different anti-convulsives over the years. None of which worked. He wanted to try cannabis oil but where he lived it was not legal. Had it been available to him, my son might be with us today. SUDEP is the sudden, unexpected death of someone with epilepsy, who was otherwise healthy. No other cause of death is found when an autopsy is done. Each year, more than 1 in 1,000 with epilepsy die from SUDEP. If seizures are uncontrolled the risk increases to more than 1 in 150. These sudden deaths are rare in children, but are the leading cause of death in young adults with epilepsy. Yet, where it is legal it is only legal for children and not adults. We must stop depriving any & all people of this medicinal plant.
