In California alone, healthcare providers and health insurance companies are cancelling contracts due to unwillingness to compromise on rates of reimbursement. The most notable case is Anthem vs. Stanford Hospital and Clinics.
The extended negotiations have resulted in Stanford no longer being able to provide care to Anthem patients at a reimbursable rate as of October 1, 2011. This leaves a period of three months before the average employee of a company can feasibly change insurance providers.
We petition the Obama Administration - and the health industry at large - to either allow employees to freely alter their health insurance provider when a contract is not renewed, or prohibit contract lapses from taking effect until the month of January, when most employees can change providers.
