Stop jailing people for victimless crimes and giving them jobs at slave wages. Private prisons should not be profitable.

Created by P.H. on September 22, 2011

Privatized prisons require healthy inmates to work at a wage anywhere from $.12 to $1.15 an hour. Only the inmates lucky enough to work at an IFP factory can earn above $.40 an hour. These inmates also have half of their pay deducted to go towards their incarceration fee.

These prisons need to have more regulation; inmates are still people who possibly have family and loved ones to support financially.

When are we going to have a reform that will reduce the number of people jailed for petty crimes. Our reputation as the country with the largest number of inmates needs to stop! These people often come out worse than when they go in and in many cases, joining anonymous groups or therapy can help much more than jail.
