stop the Keystone XL Transcanada tar sands pipeline!

Created by N.H. on December 03, 2011

The Keystone XL Pipeline project will tap tar sands in Canada to extract oil in a particularly environmentally damaging process, then pipe it 1,700 miles to Nebraska. The extraction of the oil creates three times as much carbon pollution as traditional oil drilling, and this new source of fossil fuels will signal a continued dependence on polluting, unsustainable energy sources. Given the recent history of oil leaks and spills, the proper regulatory framework is not in place to ensure that this oil will not further pollute the environment through which the pipeline travels.
