Lead leaching in to water has become a big topic. First Flint Michigan, then Newark, NJ, and now it's infecting New York State water. Other states have been affected too. The problem lies, not with the water itself, but the paint surrounding the pipes. It is no secret that the paint around the pipes contain lead, and, when this paint chips, lead can leach in to the water. This poses a major health concern to everyone, especially children since children aren't fully developed. Examples of children health problems are hearing loss, kidney damage, slowed body growth, etc. For adults, it causes abdominal pains, headaches and anemia to name a few. There are many solutions, however, the most effective one would be to reconstruct the pipes, and make them lead free by using non-lead based paint.
