We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

Stop letting banks shut down ACH (Automated Clearing House) on holidays.

Created by G.M. on November 15, 2016

This impacts every American that is paid via Direct Deposit. On any of the federal holidays, an automated computer system, that millions depend on, is shut down. Despite it being shut down, many bank branches are open on some of these holidays.

The fact is, many a holiday weekend is ruined for Americans living paycheck to paycheck, where being delayed on payments like this can cause serious hardship. There's no reason that in 2016, we must shut down an automated computer system. You can't even use cost as a justification because it costs more to staff the branches and offices during this time than it does to staff the small group needed to monitor and maintain ACH system.
