Elected officials are paid a retirement at greater rates than even the salaries they received while serving according to The Wall Street Journal (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000142405270230470760457742190119514230...). Ending this absurdity will place a nice dent in our nations debt. "Public servants" should realize that when they leave the elected position they will re-enter the world that the rest of us live in and will work harder and more effectively as our elected officials to better our economy and society if they know they will be a member of it again soon.
Like the rest of us Americans they need to put in their 20+ years and then collect their 401K/SSI that they've contributed to through their 20 years.
