Virginia has recently created a bill that would mandate transvaginal ultrasounds in order to receive an abortion. Not only is it medically unnecessary, but it is lawful to give them WITHOUT CONSENT from the woman. The procedure is just a way to humiliate and discourage women who consider having an abortion. Even victims of rape who may have been traumatized will be forced to have an 8-10 inch wand pushed up inside of them for no medical reason. Women having an abortion due to a failed pregnancy will also be required to endure this form of rape with instruments. We need to act now and show that we are not a country which will defile and humiliate our women for wanting a medical procedure. Pro-life or pro-choice-- it doesn't matter. Nobody should want to traumatize our women.
