So-caled "green" energy alternatives aren't the most economic choices (or they wouldn't need government mandates), many aren't yet commercially viable (or they wouldn't need government subsidies), and they aren't as reliable (the wind doesn't always blow and the sun doesn't always shine). Don't prematurely shut out coal or other fossil fuels and hurt the economy and employees of those industries. The government should only fund research to develop alternatives before they're actually needed, but force feeding them to us just for the sake of being "green" and forcing out the most economic choices that have been economically viable and very reliable for decades makes NO SENSE other than to serve a political agenda driven by Big Corn, Big Green, and Big Bird (couldn't resist that one).
