Stop the mandatory implementation of the Common Core Standards as a condition for Race to the Top funding.

We, the People, ask that the implementation of the Common Core Standards no longer be a requirement for the Race to the Top Funding. The Common Core is an untested set of curriculum that is not developmentally appropriate, particularly at the early elementary level. It places a high amount of importance on standardized test that do not challenge students critical thinking skills nor their creativity. It was not created by experienced educators, those people most qualified to create a set of standards. The standards need to be vetted by educators and education professionals, rather than business and political professionals who do not have a qualified background in education.
