Attorney General Holder has recently said that he is against Mandatory Minimum Sentences. The Deputy A.G. Mr. Cole said "For our Criminal Justice system to be effective, it needs to not only be fair; but it also must be perceived as fair." He also spoke about a fundamental American ideal being equal justice under the law.
Four men were arrested and charged in a Crack Cocaine Conspiracy, they all committed the same crimes. They were sentenced to 15, 12 and a half and 7 years. Only Chad was sentenced to 40 years!Chad has been imprisoned for 11 and a half years. Arrested at the age of 24, he was a young, immature man. He admits that he deserved going to prison, but not 40 years.
