Stop the tax code and other government entities for penalizing legal marriage by taking away income and benefits. These penalties are actually causing the destabilization of American families. Many couples who would normally be married are living separately under one roof so they can avoid loss of income, loss of medical benefits, and loss of state/federal subsidies (such as SNAP). Recently my husband and I loss a portion of our Social Security income due to the fact that we are married. Even though we live way below the poverty line, our income was considered too much for a married couple (our income being $13,000 a year before income cut - the poverty line being $15,000 per year). America needs to stop this senseless (cents-less) penalty against families.
