Currently the Veterans Administration will revoke benefits if a Widow/Widower remarries before the age of 57. Originally the policy was set for the age of 65 and later reduced to age 60. If the marriage fails at any time the benefits may be reinstated in the case of death, divorce or annulment. Having any limitation in regards to age or marital status is unreasonable along with never reinstating the benefits.
The benefits are paid to surviving spouses of those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice for the United States of America. The burden is left to the family of those that choose to try to move on with their lives and start a new family.
This policy should be reviewed and changed to have the sum of the benefits lost reinstated at the age of 57 whether you choose to remarry or not.
