Our government is funding non-therapeutic cosmetic surgery on non-consenting infant boys. Physicians need to be further educated about the functions of the foreskin, it's development and management (proper hygiene and safe sex practices) and stop needlessly circumcising infant boys. No medical association in the world recommends circumcision, and it's risks (including an average of around 117+ deaths per year) far outweigh any possible benefit. Circumcision should not be promoted or executed as a substitute for practicing good hygiene or safe sex. It is unethical to circumcise a child for aesthetic reasons or cultural norms, it violates men's basic human rights and decreases sexual pleasure. Our tax payer dollars should not be used towards such an unnecessary and objectionable practice.
