Stop Medicare Cuts to Puerto Rico. American citizens living in Puerto Rico pay the same amount of Medicare

Created by J.R. on March 04, 2015

US citizens living in Puerto Rico pays the same amount of Medicare and Social Security Tax as in any other state, thus receiving an inferior amount of Medicare and SS benefits. Currently, PR’s MA program receives the lowest funding than any other US jurisdiction - MA benchmarks for PR average 27% lower than any other US jurisdiction.

The disproportional funding reduction to PR constitutes the largest cuts of any other US jurisdiction.Any additional reduction in 2016 would be fatal for the interwoven healthcare delivery system in PR, in particular for the more than 550,000 MA beneficiaries.

74% of all Medicare beneficiaries and 90% of all Medicare Part A and B beneficiaries in PR have selected MA to receive their Medicare benefits. This is the highest MA enrollment percentage in the US
