US citizens living in Puerto Rico pays the same amount of Medicare and Social Security Tax as in any other state (more than 4 billion, significantly more than Vermont) thus receiving an inferior amount of Medicare and SS benefits, no SSI, and a mínimum amount of medicaid. Currently, PR’s MA program receives the lowest funding than any other US jurisdiction - MA benchmarks for PR average 27% lower than any other US jurisdiction.
The disproportional funding reduction to PR constitutes the largest cuts of any other US jurisdiction.Any additional reduction in 2016 would be fatal for the interwoven healthcare delivery system in PR, in particular for the more than 550,000 MA beneficiaries.
Sounds like DISCRIMINATION against US residents living in Puerto Rico.
