Inpatient treatment for stablization of mentallly ill with some kinds of "personality disorders" is totally inadequate in this country. There is a subculture of these poor mentally ill people largely left to their own devices. Families are destroyed while trying to help their loved ones and finally must let go of them to survive. There is no help to save these wasted lives. Inpatient treatment is the only way to protect society, and it is denied in these cases. We are so sophisticated and politically correct we don't even call it mental illness anymore much less address this very real threat.
