In the last week, CenturyLink has stated that they will work to acquire Level 3 Communications. This cannot be allowed to happen. There are currently only a few providers that control the entire nation's backbone infrastructure. One of these companies is Level 3. CenturyLink has had a history of poor customer service and currently sits at a 1 star rating from Consumer Affairs. They intentionally price gouge so that their customers can pay exorbitant amounts of money for sub-par services. Allowing CenturyLink to not only continue this practice, but also monopolize the backbone of the internet's traffic would be devastating for consumer choice. This acquisition must be stopped.
