Our military services have no business marketing to and recruiting kids under the age of 18. Every year hundreds of thousands of kids in the US are actively recruited by our military, and each year well over 10,000 of these youth under 18 join the armed forces.
This petition asks the President to call upon Congress to pass legislation barring all forms of military recruitment of minors by the armed services, including marketing to our youth via commercials, video games, and movies, in-school recruitment by military recruiters, and programs run by the DoD which target youth such as STARBASE and Junior ROTC.
Military recruitment should happen between adult peers, and not between an adult and an impressionable youth. Our kids deserve better. Let's restore dignity to the recruiting process.
