Have the Treasury stop minting the penny and remove current coinage from circulation. It the costs taxpayers over $60 million more to mint than it is worth. Today's quarter is worth what the penny was in 1900 so its value in cash transactions is essentially meaningless. As a plus, eliminating it would leave room for the dollar coin in the typical cash register's change drawer removing one hurdle to acceptance of the cost saving replacement of the paper dollar.
