The process of minting a penny cost more than a penny is worth (1.8 pennies to be exact). The U.S. can remove the penny and round, up or down, to the nearest 5 cents just like New Zealand and Australia have done. This will not raise prices of goods anymore that when the U.S. government stopped minting half pennies. Best of all we can stop wasting our time with these worthless pieces of zinc.
