Monsanto is a corporation that has patented 90% of five major seeds such as, corn, soybeans, cotton, canola and sugar beets. This gives them a near monopoly on the food market, as a lot of products require some form of these crops. The monopoly allows Monsanto to increase prices at will. Prices for the seeds have rose by over 30%, which makes products using these seeds more expensive to produce. Monsanto also places strict restrictions on farmers that use their seeds. For example, farmers must destroy any leftover seeds, hence forcing them to purchase more seeds from the company. Failure to due so will result in a lawsuit. This has happened many times before. Protect our rights, our products, our farmers, and our God given food.
