Stop movement to nominate a new supreme court justice before the end of his term

Created by N.K. on March 01, 2016

President Obama has no right to make a lasting decision as the nomination of a supreme court justice as he is headed out of office. By doing this, he is not simply executing his "constitutional duties" but deliberately forcing through a nomination in a year when it should be up to the next president who has to choose wisely as he or she will be in office the next four years to reap the repercussions. If he appoints a nominee, he will rush the process by which our longest serving federal officials are chosen in order to make his nomination be approved. Therefore, it should be up to our next president, whoever he or she is, to nominate a justice to fill the vacancy. And a question for the president, why did you not attend Justice Scalia's funeral?
