I am petitioning for Congress to please put forth legislation that will force sites like Mugshots.com to cease and desist their practices of making available photos and arrest records of individuals who have been detained by Police for non-violent, misdemeanor offenses such as DUI/DUII/DWI charges and minor drug use charges where no one was hurt. In many of these cases, especially in DUI/DUII/DWI charges, those detained never entered the main road, or never drove their vehicle at all. I am not asking for violent offenders to be granted this, only those who have been arrested for NON-violent offenses. These people who have made a mistake should not be subjected to extortion that sites like Mugshots.com put them through. Extortion and blackmail should not be protected by the First Amendment.
