The U.S. Navy has announced plans to build an additional 10 Independence class ships with the 5th being named the USS Gabrielle Giffords.
This action must be stopped.
These ships should be named after fallen U. S. Serviceman/Servicewomen who died in defense of this country and the preservation of liberty; not after an unfortunate victim of a crime.
Naming a warship after Gabreille Giffords denies that honor to much more worthy Serviceman/Servicewomen.
