Under a new NCAA Football rule proposal, an offense will not be allowed to snap the ball until the play clock reaches 29 seconds or less. If the offense snaps the ball before the play clock reaches 29 seconds, a 5-yard, delay-of-game penalty will be assessed. This change is unfair to all teams that run "hurry-up" offenses and should not be brought to vote.
Schools that run hurry-up offenses, while untraditional and often thought of as fads, should not be penalized for their style of play. They are being unfairly targeted by traditional teams that aren't physically prepared for the pace that these teams demand of their opponents. It is becoming an increasingly common strategy and makes for faster paced games.
