The Republican Party has repeatedly held the American people, and our economy, hostage in order to bend the Obama administration’s economic policy to their will. When they held unemployment insurance hostage, President Obama agreed to extend the costly Bush tax cuts for the rich. When they held the debt ceiling hostage, President Obama agreed to engage in austerity rather than stimulus. He agreed to cut jobs, rather than create them. John Boehner told the press that he got “99%” of what he wanted out of these hostage negotiations. Mitch McConnell told the press that he would repeat the hostage taking in the future, since it was so successful the first time around.
Fight Wall Street and the GOP, Mr. President! Stop negotiating with hostage takers!
