We, the undersigned:
- acknowledge that adoption by the Congress of "Magnitsky Act” and response to it made by the Russian Duma as “Dima Yakovlev Law” lead to confrontation between two countries that is not supported by majority of people,
- acknowledge that the US-Russian impasse over missile defense and several other issues have brought us to the precipice of a new Cold War and the recently developing confrontation of legislators only make things worse.
- urge this Administration to take he following steps:
Announcement that Magnitsky Act requirements will be followed only in cases supported by verdict of the court,
Return to negotiations with the Russian side over missile defense,
Respect the political choices made by the people in both countries via popular, democratic elections
