The lawmakers are looking for a long term transportation funding plan, because the highway trust fund which pays for most of the nations road work and transit projects have been shrinking. Both members (Democrat and Republican) want another Federal fuel tax raise.
There hasn't been a Federal gas or diesel fuel tax raise since 2008, when the gas tax was raised to 18.4 cents per gallon and diesel fuel was raised to 24.4 cents per gallon.
I for one! Am tired of the Government mishandling our money to begin with, it is time to take care of our own US Citizens, instead of sending it to a foreign country.
The average State fuel taxes are Gas 23.47 cents per gallon, Fuel 24.0 cents per gallon, Federal fuel tax Gas 18.4 cents per gallon, Diesel fuel 24.4 cents per gallon.
