The National Security Agency (NSA) continues to conduct surveillance on millions of Americans without obtaining a warrant. The NSA collects phone and internet data in coordination with coordination with companies like Verizon, and keeps that data for at least five years. This "metadata" may not specifically implicate individuals in specific crimes but nonetheless is used as a basis to detain and even kill people, according to a former CIA and NSA director. This unprecedented surveillance program began under Bush and has continued under Obama. The President should halt this far-reaching program immediately and provide a Constitutionally-robust alternative that protects Americans' civil liberties.
