Stop offshore drilling in the gulf of Mexico.

Created by G.G. on October 05, 2014

Profitable only to private businesses the cost to the environment, fishing industry, and future generations has yet to be calculated. The 2010 BP oil spill the damage continues. UF's oceanographic research team has established that the oil still has not been completely removed from the Gulf of Mexico. The longer the oil stays in the water the more particulate it accumulates allowing it to become more dense than the water, causing it to submerge below the surface, this oil becomes more costly. No longer detectible for clean up. One of three things will now happen to this oil: as fish pass through this oil it gets stuck to their gills and suffocates them, when storms pass through the gulf region the oil may become washed up on shore and devastate the shoreline, the oil will settle.
