Stop the Oklahoma State Legislature's Ban on the AP US History Exam

Created by M.G. on February 18, 2015

Recently, Oklahoma Lawmakers voted to ban the AP US History Exam because it teaches a negative viewpoint of US History. Students in Oklahoma will be unfairly deprived of this important class due to political and ideological bias. This can substantially impact the quality of education and the competitiveness of Oklahoman students as they are no longer able to receive college credit from their classes.

APUSH classes teach students to critically examine sources so that they may gain a holistic picture of the development of the USA. While the development of the nation has many positive aspects, it is still critical to examine the negative aspects (ex: slavery, treatment of Native Americans), so that the nation can prevent repeating the mistakes of its past.

I urge the USFG to appeal this ban
