The recent ban from the Oklahoma State Legislature towards teaching students the AP US History unfairly punishes students and places them at a competitive disadvantage compared to other students and their ability to learn. Also learning US history is a critical part of being an active citizen in the participatory democracy and of the United States. Continuing education about history is critical to avoid mistakes that the US has made in the past. While the current APUSH curriculum may contain less than savory aspects of American History, they are still a part of it.
I ask that the ruling to ban the AP US History Exam in Oklahoma be overturned as it is the students' right to learn.
