I feel it's unfair, & a major drain on our country's finances, for former politicians to receive their full salaries for jobs they're no longer doing. The average American doesn't get paid at all much less their full salary when they're no longer employed: why should politicians be any different? And a good portion of them don't do their job when they're in office, why should we continue to pay them once they're out?
Even if their salary were reduced. it would put a huge chunk back into our country's coffers. Maybe their 'take-home pay' after they have served their term(s) could be based on how well they did their job when they WERE in office but no more than one-half of their in-office salary.
There are many more reasons but unfortunately no more room lol.
