It makes little sense for those so well compensated for a job to hold our budgets for basic infrastructure and services hostage over political posturing and inter-party squabbling.
Why are we paying these individuals a high five figure,to low six figure income if they cannot do a job they are elected and -hired- to do. If we as a people would be docked pay or worse for not completing a project or task as required by our job, why are these men and women allowed to stay highly paid . They will only to continue holding our country's basic operations over our head.
Their salaries should be stopped when they are not in session, and penalized/reduced permanently whenever a shutdown is allowed to occur.
